Kids Series - Minecraft Plugins Programming with Javascript (Tue + Thur nights!)
By Nathan Liles
Tuesday + Thursday, February 21st & 23rd, 5:30-8:30pm
Location: Blacksburg Location To Be Announce (see RSVP Link below)

Kids! Do you love playing Minecraft? Would you like to learn how to control it by modifying how it works through programming?! Create brand new custom weapons, new types of buildings, and your own mini-games within Minecraft using Javascript (the same language that powers most modern websites).

This two night (5:30-8:30 Tuesday and Thursday nights) kids workshop starts off by showing you how to set up your own minecraft server, enabling you to read and execute JavaScript code in-game. Then it jumps into the plugin creation process, teaching you how to generate a basic example plugin, and moving on to craft a custom sword that shoots fireballs.

Even if you've never programmed before, we'll be covering programming concepts such as variables, objects, arrays, functions, and conditionals. This will give you the programming power to do anything you can imagine, like flying zombies, teleporting arrows, and creeper cows. The possibilities are endless.

Requirements (PLEASE READ):
* Kids ages 8-17 only please (if under 16, parents must stay for duration)
* Experience playing Minecraft on PC (but no prior programming experience) needed
* Laptop (w/power supply) and the commercial version of Minecraft installed & working
    Software: Installed Minecraft license/login (get here or via "Minecraft Card" at Walmart)
    Software: Installed Java Oracle JDK 8
    Software: Recommended Text editor SublimeText (free download)
* Keyboarding skills strongly recommended
