Title: 2018 College of Veterinary Medicine Open House
The VA-MD Regional College of Veterinary Medicine presents their 2018 Open  
House on Saturday, April 7, 2018.

Please join us at our Annual Open House for a behind-the-scenes look at our  
college! The event, held with support from the Student American Veterinary  
Medical Association (SAVMA) and other student organizations, features a  
variety of exhibits, demonstrations, seminars, and hour-long public tours  
of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital departing every 10 minutes with the  
last tour at 2:00 pm.

The family-friendly event will also feature activities designed expressly  
for children such as horseshoe painting, face painting and a “future  
surgeon” photo booth. Third-year students will also help “surgically  
repair” stuffed animals that children bring to the Open House (limit one  
per child) during a Teddy Bear Repair Clinic available from 10:00 am to  
2:30 pm.

Lectures and information sessions will address such topics as equine gut  
anatomy, pet first aid, and what prospective students need to know about  
applying to veterinary school. Demonstrations will cover a wide range of  
topics and include ultrasound exams on dogs, live horses painted to  
represent their internal anatomy, agility and police canine demonstrations,  
tiny cameras called endoscopes, and more.

The purpose of the Open House is to showcase our college, provide  
information about the veterinary profession and careers in veterinary  
medicine, celebrate the role of animals in people's lives, and provide fun  
and entertainment for the community.

The Open House is free and open to the public. No registration is required.

Attendees are encouraged to stop by the check-in area in front of the  
veterinary college complex to pick up event information, map, and passport.  
In addition, a silent auction with gift certificates and merchandise from  
local merchants will be held from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm with winners  
announced at 2:15 pm.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a donation of dog food or toys to benefit  
local shelter dogs.

Parking will be available in the large fenced commuter / graduate parking  
lot off Duck Pond Drive known as “the Cage”. A sign will direct visitors to  
the parking lot entrance.
